It involves a lot of things when it comes to higher level of education. Bear in mind that now you are not focusing much on remembering anymore but it involves course works, exams, writing term papers, attending seminars and colloquiums and etc. It involves you to have access to wonderful resources such as latest publications on your major, books, journals and academic discussions among your peers. Definitely, talk to your peer is one of the important strategies to improve your research skills.
Developing skills to have research autonomy is important. My post today will deal with it. You have got to believe me that lecture and tutorials are not enough. Among the anticipated steps that you might want to take are:
Read, Read and Read Your Books Extensively:
You don’t have to read from cover to cover unlike in your high school, it is because you have enormous list of books awaiting you that are given by your study lecturers. You have to be very selective because only few chapters inside those books are basically beneficial to you. Reading entire books will eat most of your valuable time. In order to do that you need to:
1. Know what are your looking for, you need to determine what are they and how much time do you have for this particular activity.
2. It can save your time if you look for the targeted information in content and index pages.
3. It is best if you can read the conclusion or the summaries of targeted chapters. Again, you can get the overview and it safes your time.
I advise you to take details of the book, perhaps in the future you might come across the same information and you want to read it again. (This is for your record). Don’t forget these details:
a) Author’s full name, date of publication, book title and subtitle, publisher and his town.
