Braveheart: My Reflection

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

What I notice is every human will search and look for truth, the question is how much is their persistency on this matter. Searching for truth sometimes can be very disheartening, due to many elements. Anyhow, I believe ALLAH is fair, on our part we must ensure that prejudice and egoistic does not cloud our rational thinking, or else you are exactly like a Iblees( read Arabic Syaiton, read Malay Iblis, read Latin Lucifer)

What if and what about if the Truth is already in front of their eyes, they see it but refused to accept it? Are we going to stop digging further? I will say no because we don’t know who is going to embrace Islam because guidance belongs solely to ALLAH. He choose whomsoever He likes.

I met Habib, a brother from Senegal, he is a nice Muslim. He explained to me the story that I read almost 10 years ago, (this guy read it 20 years ago when he was small) by Chinua Achebe titled “Things Fall Apart”. Kieran F. Johnston a.k.a Abdul Karim was my great mentor at that time; he inspired me on understanding different perspectives that we can get by reading literature and to keep maintaining the omniscient point of views. When we have this skill, we can apply it to our daily life. In my point of view, only those who appreciate literature can appreciate and want to maintain the status of omniscient point of views. This is good because you can understand human and know the reason underlying of their actions.

How about Koran? Is there much Omniscient point of views inside it? Well, I don’t know and I don’t rather dare to comments because of my lacking understanding in this matter and disciplines (read closely I am using matter as subject matter and disciplines). Any response readers? Is there among you having the Disciplined Mind on Quran? What I mean is crossing and interlink and intralink between literature and the understanding on Al Quran or in simpler words are subject matter and disciplines are heavily connected so that you can make sense of our daily life, being able to reflect deeply on everything beneficial from Koran and not to forget how much it is relevant to our time and to the way forward.

Ok, my further explanation on Universal Truth can be well accepted by everybody. I did this to Irina( a Russian lady living in Leningrad), I mention the most beautiful phrases and I read to her since I can see the vibrant of curiosity (and perhaps the ability that she might bring changes one day to the Russia Policy on Chechen and Muslims) and plus, she loves reading literature. First, she said, she is against Islam at all cost, but later she changes her mind. I don’t know is it because of her nature that religion does not seem important at all ( but I put it this way, a young and talented mind, and having lots of male chasing after her does not make her really engaged and interested, further more she is busy preparing herself to go to Chernobyl).

This is the Universal Truth:

“Rabi’a ibn ‘Amir(radiyallahu ‘anhu) went to the leader of the Persians. The leader asked him,

“Why are you coming to our lands? If you are coming for money then we will pay everyone of you a salary so leave us alone.” But Rabi’a said, “That is not why we are here. We are sent to free the creation from being slaves of one another to being slaves of Allah the Creator of the creation and from the oppression of religion to the justice of Islam and we want to deliver people from the narrowness of this world to the vastness of this world and the Afterlife.”

In Braveheart, William Wallace is fighting for freedom, his nation to be free from being opressed by Longshank. He accepted the concept, and he died for the freedom and lived with it but unluckily, he died without iman.

I am waiting for Muslim directors.. anyone?

Lastly I am satisfied with this simple theme, I could not think of any theme that is better compared to this one, the original , the simple and without evolution( I am referring to other themes that I have been used before.)

These few days are crucial, I crept into my life, past, present and future to see where it can lead me to, and finally I reach a conclusion and a target, and I am willing to die for this ambition. I will join venture with past renowned scholar, fighting against those damn bullshit happy Danish cartoonists. (Are they happy? Or are they now living in fear?) My effort will not be to the front line of marching, a demo against them, but enough to say educating my brethrens about the reality of the Universal Truth.

The Status Of The Muslim under European Rule: The Eviction and Settlement of the Cerkes.

Written by : Kemal H. Karpat

I found none about Cerkes from wikipedia, however when I typed Circassion, the notes strengthen my schemata on this topic, they are basically Caucassian people but live in Diaspora due to the Russian invasion of their homeland.

I am not going to highlight about them much here, what really attracts me is how Ottoman policy towards them is really beautiful due to their attention of Quranic commandments. Among them are:

“They ask thee what they should spend (in charity). Say: Whatever ye spend that is good, is for parents and kindred and orphans and those in want and for wayfarers. And whatever ye do that is good, Allah Knoweth it well.”(2:215)

“Let there arise out of you a band of people inviting to all that is good, enjoining what is right, and forbidding what is wrong: they are the ones to attain felicity.”(3:104)

“Let not those among you who are endued with grace and amplitude of means resolve by oath against helping their kinsmen, those in want, and those who have left their homes in Allah’s cause: let them forgive and overlook: do you not wish that Allah should forgive you? For Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”(24:22)

High degree of demographic mobility happened during the periods of defeat and weakness, and Cerkes were treated as new arrivals or intruders regardless of their ethnic and linguistic origin and duration of their stay in their homelands, and this happened when Russia expanded southward and the establishment of nation state, they tried to undermine and destroy the Muslim communities regardless of their historical, language and ethnic affiliation. In order for the Cerkes to survive and and to preserve and perpetuate their cultural identity and integrity, they moved to where and which Muslim rule prevailed. In this case, they headed to be under Turk Ottoman Khilafah.

All the migration and settlement in the Ottoman land was under Idare I Umumiye –I Muhacirun Komisyonu( General Commission for the Administration of Immigration), this biro was responsible for settlement of immigrant. Eventhough there were few voices against this notion but later on, Islamic Principle that stress any Muslim who did not want to live under non Muslim rule should be allowed to immigrate and settle on Muslim Lands and be accepted and cared for. Khalifah at that time, ordered that all government offices to save 2% of their yearly budgets to be used for the settlements of the new comers. This is to avoid the fact that if they stay longer in Russia, they will be usurped /conscripted into the army and forced to fight against their Muslim brethren(coreligionists) This commission was functioned fully under the chairmanship of the Sultan and superseded the authority of all other existing bodies.

The Child Rights In Islam:

This book is written by Kawther M. Al Minawi. This book is such another heartbreaker, it is very general and no serious discussion can be found inside. There are typo errors and some sentence structures are wrong and confusing, thus impede the meaning. Even there are few explanation of hadeeth, and few of the hadeeth do not have the references from which Sunan they were taken, I can’t recommend this book for beginners, due to shallow explanation, but for those who want more for this kind of topic needs to go further to the reference section.(even this section is written is Arabic!). I don’t think it is necessary to put the section of “Secrets of Natural Suckling” in another page because it diverts readers focus, rather, if it is done, by rights there should be few additional sections for the secret of circumcision, the secrets of giving support. What I mean is I cant see the relevant putting it there.

I disagree with the first points, instead of just focusing the point related to selecting a good mother; the writer should as well focus or finding any daleel that shows selecting a good father. I believe this will do more good because of the universal and gender none biased of the English readers. Even I disagree of his point in page 20 by quoting him wrote: “So, there are four qualities wanted in woman: A woman of wealth is wanted because the husband wishes to get some of her money.”

Anyway, I would like to put the writer points on this topics, which derived solely from Quran and Sunnah. They are:

a) Selecting a good mother.

b) Verification of lineage.

I found this verse is beautiful:

“But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable

terms”(Al Baqarah : 233)

c) Selecting a good name.

d) Aqeeqah.

e) Circumcision.

f) Suckling.

g) Nursing

h) Support

i) Taking care of the Child’s property.

j) Equality between Males and Females in Breeding.

k) The peaceful Islamic House.

l) Kind treatment

m) Inculcating good habits and Qualities

n) Proper Islamic Bringing Up

o) Education.

Islamic Laws, Muslim Praxis and American Culture:

Islamic laws come from Quran and Sunna, later to the understanding of Companions(r.a), then, it goes to the consensus of the community(ijma) and lastly to analogical reasoning. On these bases, the Sharia is built and from here as well, it came out several differences among the major religious schools. This is my thoughts on Chapter 4 from a comparative study which is done by Yvonne Yazbeck Haddad and Adair T. Lummis. The research can be found in the book entitled “Islamic Values In the United States”.

I don’t know what does “praxis” means, so I opened online dictionary and it is similar to custom or habits. In this chapter, it mentions and discusses writers finding on how, what and when American Muslims (immigrant or none) deals with above topics. At certain points, I give a deep sigh reflecting on my ummah, assimilating into some non Islamic culture that to me is a very obvious unaccepted because there are certain things mentioned that is clearly prohibited and not permissible for example, selling liquor to earn for living. Their arguments are shallow, for example:

“Sometimes you have to do whatever it is to feed your family. I don’t think there should be any restriction. Some people say, “Well, you can’t sell alcohol.” But it was me and it was the difference between feeding my family and selling alcohol, well I would. I wouldn’t let my family or friends starve because I couldn’t raise some kind of money somehow. In the world we live in you have to do anything you can to earn a living. Even bartending.”(pg.105)

Even this is ridiculous:

“Myself, I know as a Muslim you are not supposed to serve or drinks or be in the bar business. A Muslim shouldn’t do those thing. But I never stopped to think I shouldn’t do that when I was working” (pg.105)

This is even insane:

“I used to have a bar. The work was satisfying. The money was good, the hours short. You are your own boss; you don’t have to answer to anyone else. I was happy at that time. … It is haram in Islam they say to have liquor in your store, and selling it is worse that having it and drinking it, but it is a living.. I only sold out because I was offered about one thousand dollars more than I had paid for it.”(pg. 106).

This is disheartening:

“We were in business so we had to have liquor in our house. I never learned to mix a drink in my life and I never touched a drink in my life, and neither did my husband. We had friends that came in and business acquaintances who we entertained in our home. We had friends that came in and business acquaintances who we entertained in our home. We would put the liquor and mixes out and say, “There it is. Do you what you want with it.” That is as far as it went. (pg.106)

ALLLAH opens their heart through their daughter words:

“In our family ten years ago, we used to serve liquor to or American guests. We would just put it on the table and leave it there for them to help themselves. But we stopped doing this as a result of comments made by my older daughter once-that when we don’t drink, why do we serve drinks?.. Since that time we have totally stopped serving drinks in our household. (pg. 107)

Developing Study Skills: Good Students Ethics

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

DEVELOPING GOOD GRADES:

Study is not easy. It is a process as complex as writing, and not everybody is a gifted writer but yet you can improve to be better because it is not solely a product, it is a process. You can develop by having correct practices. Dedicating time and efforts are crucial in school. In this article, you are going to read few on:

Time efficiency and class preparations:

Selecting your classes (by knowing which are compulsory and elective) is your first step towards controlling and managing your time. You can get that information either from handouts, websites of form your own adviser. Before you choose any class, knowing the time is important in order to avoid any clash to other class. Secondly, it is important as well to know about the requirements of class such as types of assignments. This is to avoid being overwhelmed and overloading your class schedule. Thirdly, does your course has prerequisites? This is like taking and passing other compulsory courses before you can be admitted. You can ask your adviser regarding this.

Your Lecturers expectations:

These are the do’s and the don’ts:

Respect them, don’t lie to them, tell the truth if you have a problem rather than make up an obvious lie, come on time, finish assignments and be prepared for test, wait to be called on (if you have questions), participate in classroom discussion(it shows you are focusing on the lectures).

The Don’ts:

Don’t talk when someone is talking. It shows no respects, don’t distract other from their work such as listening to CD,Mp3 loudly. And don’t ever cheat on papers, tests or homeworks.
