The Child Rights In Islam:
This book is written by Kawther M. Al Minawi. This book is such another heartbreaker, it is very general and no serious discussion can be found inside. There are typo errors and some sentence structures are wrong and confusing, thus impede the meaning. Even there are few explanation of hadeeth, and few of the hadeeth do not have the references from which Sunan they were taken, I can’t recommend this book for beginners, due to shallow explanation, but for those who want more for this kind of topic needs to go further to the reference section.(even this section is written is Arabic!). I don’t think it is necessary to put the section of “Secrets of Natural Suckling” in another page because it diverts readers focus, rather, if it is done, by rights there should be few additional sections for the secret of circumcision, the secrets of giving support. What I mean is I cant see the relevant putting it there.
I disagree with the first points, instead of just focusing the point related to selecting a good mother; the writer should as well focus or finding any daleel that shows selecting a good father. I believe this will do more good because of the universal and gender none biased of the English readers. Even I disagree of his point in page 20 by quoting him wrote: “So, there are four qualities wanted in woman: A woman of wealth is wanted because the husband wishes to get some of her money.”
Anyway, I would like to put the writer points on this topics, which derived solely from Quran and Sunnah. They are:
a) Selecting a good mother.
b) Verification of lineage.
I found this verse is beautiful:
“But he shall bear the cost of their food and clothing on equitable
terms”(Al Baqarah : 233)
c) Selecting a good name.
d) Aqeeqah.
e) Circumcision.
f) Suckling.
g) Nursing
h) Support
i) Taking care of the Child’s property.
j) Equality between Males and Females in Breeding.
k) The peaceful Islamic House.
l) Kind treatment
m) Inculcating good habits and Qualities
n) Proper Islamic Bringing Up
o) Education.
