Our Education System or culture?

“But how exactly do you go about nurturing your right brain skills? I have to leave the details to education experts. But I would guess that one way you nurture your right brain , which can not be easily repeated, automated, or outsourced. As Pink put it: The sorts of abilities that matter most now it turns out are also the sorts of things that people do out of intrinsic motivation. Relatively few people become accountants out of a sense of income creators and empathizers to become designers and story tellers and counselors and consultants. This weekend there will be accountants painting watercolors in their garages, there will be lawyers writing screenplays. But I guarantee you that you won’t find any sculptors who on weekends will be doing other people taxes for fun. In other words, there is growing congruence between the sorts of things that people do because they love doing them and the sorts of things that confer economic advantage. And so concludes Pink, when you hear your parents or your college graduation speaker telling you to do what you love they are not giving you some syrupy pabulum, they are giving you a survival strategy.”(pg.323)

It is important to nurture this wave into our education system, based on Wu Qi Di’s mind blowing reflection:

“Although we are enjoying a very fast growth of our economy, we own a very little intellectual property, we are so proud of China’s four great inventions (in the past), the compass, papermaking, printing and gunpowder, but in the following centuries, we did not keep up that pace of invention. Those mentioning fully prove what the Chinese people are capable of doing- so why not now? We need to get back to that nature.”(pg.366)

Most Japanese are doing that and that is how they ensure creativity stays put in their generations. How about us? Is by focusing much on Science Stream and forgetting Art will lead to disaster? I believe and we should or we must put it these ways, “ creative thinking and entrepreneurship are the exact issues we are putting attention today and important to have an integration in arts and science so people will have the creativity and independent thinking, among the teachers, some of them are not well trained to get the integration of arts and science”(pg 367)

If we reflect more on how to flourish our Malaysian Universities, perhaps we should ponder at Friedman thoughts on American Universities:

“The BankBoston Economics Department did a study titled “MIT: The Impact of Innovation.” Among its conclusions was that MIT graduates have founded 4000 companies, creating at least 1.1 million jobs worldwide and generating sales of $232 billion.”

“What makes America unique is not that it built MIT, or that its grads are generating economic growth and innovation, but that every state in the country has universities trying to do the same. “America has 4000 colleges and universities,” said Allan E. Goodman, president of Institute of International Education. “The rest of the world combined has 7,768 institutions of higher education. In the state of California alone, there are about 130 colleges and universities. Tere are only 14 countries in the world that have more than that number.”(pg.331)

Abbasid in Iraq during the Khilafa established world renowned universities that had been destroyed by Tartar, thus its crucial for us to implement above quotations. China follows the same step:

“In China, where there are 1.3 billion people and the universities are just starting to crack the top ranks, the competition for top spots is ferocious. The math /science salmon that swims upstream in China and gets itself admitted to a top Chinese university or hired by a foreign company is one smart fish. The folks at Microsoft have a saying about their research center in Beijing, which for scientists and engineers, is one of the most desirable places to work in all of China. “Remember, in China when you are one in a million- there are thirteen hundred other people just like you.”(pg.367)

It is sad to say this happen (refer quotation below) to Egypt, the land which scholars are abundant ( if any Arabs were angry at his profound fact, I would kick those Arab buts)

“Egypt has masses of low wage workers like China. It sits right next to Europe, on the Suez Canal. He could be and should be the Taiwan of the Eastern Mediterranean but instead it is thrown in the towel of atheistic China on the manufacture of one of Muslim Egypt’s’ most cherished cultural artifacts, ‘FAWANIS’(pg.406)

Soft Skills For Fatherhood..

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

In today’s world, much is spoken about what a real man is or isn’t. Perhaps a man is one who can be a father. Obviously, every fertile male can become a father- in the physical sense. But it is the transformation of males into men that are capable of fulfilling their role in this life that we need to focus on because becoming a man is a process that many males never complete.

A vast majority of boys enter a second childhood instead of manhood and many more fail to recognize what their purpose in life is. Others are slow to figure out what it takes to become a contributing member of society. They fall short of understanding what it means to be a father and thus a man. Some realize what food fatherhood requires but lack the necessary tools- patience, resolve, commitment and diligence.

This is much true, we mind of our “physical need” (shame on us, (men, fathers) more than anything else) than the need to be well prepared emotionally starting on the first day of tying the knot ( read Arabic nikah, English marriage). Later on, the bad impacts (consequences) will be on our off springs. This deficiency must be avoided to stop this vicious circle, i.e an abusive father will harbor an abusive son and this same abusive son will be an abusive daddy 25 years in the future. Nauzubillah.( read English May Allah stay us away from this calamity). Even I am not!!

Someone might ask what and how to determine that you are ready emotionally? Well, I admit this is difficult question to answer because no one knows better than your own self. If you have this kind of questions before getting married, I think that’s good enough because you will be searching for answers for those questions insha Allah later on. The questions are:

My greatest fear as teenager was that I wouldn’t be a good as father as he had been to me. I feared I wouldn’t have the financial ability to support a family. I feared I wouldn’t have the resolve and patience. I feared I wouldn’t have the commitment and diligence that he had. I feared I wouldn’t grow into a man.

These are the checklist (questions) for those who said they are ready to be fathers.

Are you comfortable and satisfied with the way you provide for your family?

What kind of man do you think you are? Compare yourself to your father.

Do you think you can be a better father than him?

Are you a person your children will be proud of?

Do you feel you can be a man whose children and wife trust in him, respect him, love to be around him and are ready to support him?

These might initiate something positives in soon to be your perfumed garden, insha Allah amen:

“Fathers should revive what fathers used commonly to be for their families: protectors from harm and sources for security and satisfaction.”

“real men have a sense of pride and yearn to provide as best they can for their families- as a result, these men tend to have children who are also proud-pleased with their fathers and appreciative of the hard work their fathers put in while they themselves were growing up”

“I pray the day comes when Muslim men stop thinking about multiple marriages when they can barely take care of one. Men who have not yet matured and they come in all ages- view women as objects reserved simply for their service. Are they ignorant of the fact that the notion of qawamah (read English leadership in family) given to them in Islam requires that they be real men- good husbands to their wives and loving fathers to their children.”

This Is wHat I call Stupidity..

“Prosecutor General Yalcinkaya counted a total of several dozen sins of the ruling party against “secular laws of Turkey”. Many of the “charges” against Erdogan and his party are frankly absurd.

Thus, the General prosecutor accused the AKP (AK Party) that the title of the party had “a secret Islamic sense”. Prosecutor had the title AKP – AK Party read as “Party of Allah and Koran” from the first letters: A and K.

Yet another demonstrative absurd that was adopted by the Constitutional Court as the accusatory argument was the statement made by Prosecutor General that Prime Minister Erdogan is a fan of Fenerbahce football club because of the quote: ‘if the flag of the football club is dipped into nitric acid and left for 15 minutes, the flag will turn green’, which is of course the color of Islam.

Almost all of the accusatory argumentation of Prosecutor General abounds in such or similar absurd. In this connection the Turkish generals, who really run the country instead of the government or the president (who have only formal authorities for the most part), have apparently decided to show plain boldly, with no pretexts or decency, that the reasons for the dismissal of the country’s Premier and President may be of any sort, even as far as their names. For instance, the name of Turkish President is Gul Abdullah (translated from Arabic it means ’servant of Allah’), which is much more “incriminating” than the name of the ruling party, AKP, or the AK Party.”

Sometimes, hatred makes you look stupid and fool. In this case, the award goes to Turkey’s secular laws supporters. Should I change my name too? :P

What PayPal did was enable people, individuals, to accept credit cards. I could pay you as an individual seller on eBay with a credit card. This really leveled the playing field and made commerce more frictionless. In fact it was so good that eBay bought PayPal but not on the recommendation of its Wall Street investment bankers- on the recommendation of its users.

“ We woke up one day,” said Whitman, “ and found out that 20 percent of the people on eBay were saying, “I accept PayPal, please pay me that way,” and we said, “ Who are these people and what are they doing?” .At first we tried to fight them and launched our own service, called Billpoint. Finally, in July 2002, we were at (an) eBay Live(convention) and the drum beat through the hall was deafening. Our community was telling us, “Would you guys stop fighting? We want a standard and by the way we have picked the standard and its called PayPal and we know you guys at eBay would like it to be your standard but its theirs.” And that is when we knew we had to buy the company; because it was the standard and it was not ours… it is the best acquisition we ever made.”

Serial Killers

Into the mind of serial killer

I watched two movies related to the topic, the first one was The Minus Man, followed by Suspect Zero, those giving experiences of serial killers’ minds. He (The Minus Man) avoided getting caught by creating (hallucination) cops in his mind. From both of the movie, it is obvious that usually serial killers have obsessive compulsive disorder, or anal person. Suspect Zero is a great movie, my heart thumped fast for the whole hours of watching it, it creates tension and curiosity. The movie itself is unpredictable, hard to figure where is it going plus the new concept that I learnt which is Suspect Zero (Super Serial Killer) which I think is just a hypothesis.

love seeing my students hunger for knowledge, they want more and gluttonly eating everything .. but i prefer those who eat sensibly and enjoy whatever i give them then and sometimes vomit it out if they feel uneasy (eventhough it is delicious).. those i respect more..

its a passion.. indeed.. it goes well with writings..

my studs, equilibrium please..

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

I just could not close my eyes, I guess I have so many activities today, too packed until I cant evaluate the good and the bad of my actions and words, as result I am facing some of the consequences that lead me to feel uneasy about everything.

I am dependent, I am not independent, she is quite true, for so long I am hiding behind the wall to deny the truth, I feel so alive but in the real world, I am dying..embracing yourself is the way towards salvation, your own soul needs that, that is what I experienced..

There is a power in positive thinking, don’t let others cloud your mind with dark images of almost everything, thus you control your words, you don’t want others do the same do you? If you are able to do it and still face the same problem, remember it is best to keep quiet, learn and reflect back, be positive, others had bad days, but not you.. Don’t be like them, don’t call them cockroaches, if you do, REPENT.. if you do, you are equal.

Equilibrium is not necessarily good..

It is the most valuable lessons.. That is what I call as a studying life.

Make yourself busy..

World Is even More Flat!

Author: admin  //  Category: Uncategorized

Is the World Flat? Is the time become fast day by day? Doesn’t it suit with what Ar Rasul(pbuh) said regarding time that it moves fast as the Armageddon comes? Doesn’t he said that those who are stick to the Koran and Sunna among the lucky ones? I will explain those above by relating them to globalization, how can it help us (Muslim) to expand our way of life( read Arabic Deen) to non-Muslim..What and how is our chances to get into Heaven(read Arabic Jannah, read Malay Syurga)

If you still can remember among the utmost reason Colonialists came to the East for the sake of 3G (Gospel, Gold and Glory) and actually it is just a continuation of Crusade. In relation to that, I would like you to read an excerpt from the book I am reading now; “The World Is Flat” by Thomas L. Friedman on the first chapter “While I was Sleeping.(pg3)It is an excerpt from the journal of Christopher Columbus on his voyage on 1942:

“Your Highness, as Catholic Christians, and princess who love and promote the holy Christian faith, and are enemies of the doctrine of Mahomet, and of all idolatry and heresy, determined to send me, Christopher Columbus to the above mentioned countries of India, to seethe said princes , people and territories and to learn their disposition and the proper method of converting them to our holy faith and furthermore directed that I should not proceed by land to the East as is customary but by a Westerly route in which direction we have hitherto no certain evidence that anyone has gone.”

At the end of his journey, he found out and he is convinced that the world is in fact round but in our case today, it is still round but the force of globalization makes it flat, even flatter than before. What do I mean by putting this notion? I don’t want to give you a straight to the point answer but rather I want you my readers to reflect on this excerpt:

“So this is or conference room ,probably the largest screen in Asia-this is forty digital screen(put together),.. “…. Infosys, he said can hold a virtual meeting of the key players from its entire global supply chain for any project at any time on that super sized screen. So their American designers could be on the screen speaking with their Indian software writers and their Asian manufacturers all at once. “We could be sitting here, somebody from New York, London, Boston, San Francisco, all live. And maybe the implementation is in Singapore, so the Singapore person could also be live here. That globalization…”

So globalization is a very powerful tool for a muslim(notice that I use A MUSLIM here because it is everybody responsibilities) to outsourcing and inviting and cultivating the Universal Truth, in fact it does not belong to any particular groups or individual, everybody can be a part of it. My question is what is our efforts to implement the Truth to the whole universe, to bring THE MESSAGE to the world population?

I quote more, (pg 5, para.1):

“I actually found India and thought many of the people I met there Americans. Some had actually taken American names and others were doing great imitations of American accents at call centers and American business techniques at software labs.”

This is my dream:

I actually found India and thought many of the people I met there Muslims. Some had actually taken Muslim ethics( read Arabic Akhlaq) and other were living themselves based on Muhammad pbuh qualities and they promote Islam based on clear and good understanding of Sahabah.(read English companions)

And Hail to Malaysian Politicians that have been using blogging as a powerful tool helping the Malaysians and Ummah.

For those who just started from Umno and the Gang, I ain’t interested to give you credits because we are using “release 3.0’, you are outdated hehehe..

MPOW(Muslim Prisoners of War) or equivalent…

Dear brothers who dwell in these prisons..

To you I write with distresses..

If to ALLAH you hold fast,

Then what harm will a misfortune do to you?

Beware dear brother

Of making you corrupting your thoughts,

Regarding the promise of the Deity, Mighty and Strong…

Verily He has promised the believers with salvation..

As He saved Yunus

From the dark depths of the belly of the fish

Dear Brother,

Before you passed the ancient ones..

These prisons are but like those prisons,

Did not Yusuf dwell in there for a phase??

And Musa,

The Tyrants threatened him with it and such was the Messenger

Of the Generous Deity to imprison him..

…..The Pagans plotted so my Lord saved him through his hijrah in the company

Of that trustworthy friend..

And in their footsteps…

The believers traversed..

Like Ahmad, that firm Imam,

And likewise Ibn Taimiyah was blessed with it

In the fortress of Sham, as prisoner he dwelled.

Hundreds of thousands of the true faithful dwelled for a time in these prisons.

Be not weak, dear brother..

Nor lose hope, when your time comes nor submit

Strengthen yourself by remembering the Deity, Most Supreme

And hasten in memorizing the Manifest Book.

That is for your heart a secure stronghold and

This is for your spirit an assisting provision.

These are hardships soon they will all cease and remaining form it will be various

Fruits of benefits, so if they intimidate you and they threaten you

Never weaken nor soften to them

And even if they insult you and they torture you and if

They beat you, submit not

You are not the first to be tortured for a mighty religion and a Manifest Legislation

Nor are you alone on this path for there are countless caravans throughout the years and if an Eid passes by

and a son is born and months rotate, while you are imprisoned, do not

Grieve O brother of the Righteous Ones

Of departing from family and losing children

And if they forbid you from their visits and likewise, their letters never appear,

So if this is for a Lord and Religion, then where is the patience, where is the

Certainty and where are your past speeches regarding the (height of the) Millah of That Trustworthy Messenger?

That intimate friend went willingly to slaughter his son, a clear trial on a magnificent, noble day like today without any anxiety, he put him down upon his forehead.

So my Lord saved him through His Good Will and ransomed

him with a fat sheep, but you..

Your sons are in a carefree life and diversion and

amusement and a secured home

Yet you have not been asked to slaughter them,

Rather merely for patience of a temporary separation for verily, they are in the care of a Merciful Lord and your are in solitude with Him and Faith..

For the pleasure of a Lord and assisting a religion,

Life and all children become insignificant..

For the pleasure of a Lord, the Mighty and Generous,

The Prisons come perfumed and the bitter come sweet

For the Pleasure of My Lord

The Prisons Come Perfumed
